Starting a healthy lifestyle is never the hardest part when it comes to sticking to your fitness goals. It’s continuing when all you want to do is give up.

But I’ve got good news, friend.

It doesn’t have to be impossible to live a healthy lifestyle for years to come. Losing weight and getting healthy is not a quick fix. A crash diet will only completely screw up your metabolism so you’re forced to eat minimal calories in order to not gain fat in the future. Doing hours of cardio in order to be “skinny” will not aid in strengthening your muscles and body tone, it won’t give you a positive outlook on a healthy lifestyle, and will only act as a bandaid to cover up a bigger problem.

If you want to truly ditch your bad lifestyle habits for healthy ones, and commit to a healthy lifestyle, not a quick fix, then I’ve got 3 tips for you that will make sticking to your fitness goals completely possible.

How To Stick To Your Fitness Goals Tip #1 – Start Small

So you’re ready to throw out the junk food and the “no time for exercise” excuse for a fridge full of clean eats and an active lifestyle?

That’s great news, good for you!

But before you go making a list of the 20 things you’re going to do differently this month in order to reach your goals, let me help you by giving you probably the most important advice you could get.

Slow and steady wins the race.

I’ve done the bit where you make 20 goals for yourself and expect to make all the changes necessary to achieve those goals overnight.

I’ll save you the pain of learning the hard way… it doesn’t work.

You’ll become so overwhelmed trying to change up EVERYTHING about your lifestyle in order to reach your goals that you’ll end up falling off the wagon altogether. This, more often that not, will lead to indulging in a gallon of ice cream because you’ve been keeping yourself from eating anything but broccoli and chicken and the cravings are real. (Trust me, I’ve been there.)

Instead, start slow.

How To Stick To Your Fitness Goals Tip #2 – Pick 1 Goal Per Month

Start slow by picking 1 goal per month. Studies show that it takes 21 days to form a habit. And to make a habit successful, it’s best to focus on just one so you won’t become overwhelmed.

If by the end of the 1st month you feel you’ve got those habits under control, work in a 2nd goal the following month while continuing the habit of your first goal. Continue the cycle and before you know it, your lifestyle will look completely different. You’ll be healthy with solid habits in place.

Unlike if you had tried changing 10 things in the beginning. If you had taken that route, you would have given up on all 10 of your goals in a week in because it was simply impossible to change everything about your lifestyle in a matter of days and actually stick to it.

Here are some goals that might be helpful to you in achieving a healthy lifestyle:

  1. Cut out junk food (Get it out of your house and stop buying it)

  8. Stop late night binge snacking
