An Honest Review Of MyPoints: Is It Worth Your Time?

MyPoints Review / MyPoints Survey

Let me ask you something: Is 5 minutes of your day spent on MyPoints worth earning $25 to AMC Movie Theaters and $50 towards Amazon?

If the answer is yes, keep reading.

MyPoints is certainly not a get rich quick company or even a “job” that will replace your full time income. No way, not even close.

Anybody who tells you that you can make $100/day through a rewards company or survey company is lying to you.

However, if you’re like me and you enjoy earning some “fun money” by doing practically nothing, then MyPoints will make a great teammate for you.

MyPoints is a rewards company that earns you points through completing tasks such as reading emails, discovering deals, printing coupons, taking surveys, watching videos, and more.

I use MyPoints for 5-10 minutes before rolling out of bed each morning and I’ve earned over 10,000 points in the last 5 months alone. And no, I don’t get ANY points for referring people, it’s all my own work.

I’m going to show you EXACTLY how I do it.

I just recently had my husband hop on board the MyPoints train because I figured if he does the exact same thing I do, we will have $50 dollars to AMC and $100 to Amazon times TWO.

Who wouldn’t want that for 5 minutes a day?

Here are my top 6 tips and exact techniques I use to earn thousands of points through MyPoints each month:

This page contains affiliate links, but I would never recommend something I don’t love and use myself. If you want more information, please visit my disclosure page.

1. Do The Daily 5 Each Day

(I know it says I only have 6,542 points. That’s because I’ve already redeemed 3,520. Once you redeem your points, you start back over at 0. So if you’re doing the math, yes, I truly have earned over 10,000 points.)

MyPoints Honest Review

I do the daily 5 every. single. day. It’s the easiest way ever to earn an easy 5 bonus points on top of the points you’re getting for each task. It’s usually about 6 points per day for doing the daily 5. Pictured above, I show you the exact daily 5 tasks I do every time. Sometimes, I’ll do a survey, but not every day. If you want to get your 5 bonus points in 30 seconds or less, do the tasks shown above that I do.

  1. Vote in the daily poll – takes 5 seconds
  2. “Visit TaxAct” – Visit whatever website they are advertising that day. As soon as your browser loads, exit out. It will count.
  3. Click Discover a Deal – As soon as your browser loads, head back to the daily 5.
  4. Print a coupon – You don’t have to print a coupon to get the point, you just have to go to the page that shows all coupons. As soon as the coupon page loads, head back to the daily 5.
  5. Read an Email – This is done in your email inbox. You have to open an email that says “Mypoints Survey Mail” or “Mypoints Member Benefits”. This will show as your “read an email” on your daily 5 once an email is opened in your email inbox. I always open these emails why I’m doing my Mypoints Bonus Mail (we will talk about this next).

2. Always Open MyPoints Bonus Mail

Honest Review of MyPoints

MyPoints Honest Review

Pictured above, you’ll see the promotions section of my gmail inbox. As you can see, I get hundreds of promotional emails each day. But the ONE email type of email you can guarantee I’ll open each and every day is “MyPoints Bonus Mail”.

Here’s Why:

The second picture shows the contents of a MyPoints Bonus Mail email. You can see that is says if I visit Glade Plugins Car offer page on Mypoints.com I’ll receive 5 points. If I want to purchase it, I’ll receive 1,650 points, but I always ignore that part.

All you have to do is click the get points button. It will bring you to the page of whatever it’s promoting, and as soon as the browser loads, I exit out. It takes 10 seconds tops. And my 5 points is automatically added to my MyPoints points bank.

I get anywhere from 3-7 MyPoints Bonus Mail emails per day, so this adds up anywhere from 15-35 points per day, JUST by opening an email. It doesn’t get any easier than that, and it’s a must-do if you want to add up points quickly on MyPoints.

3. Only Take The 5 minute Surveys Or The Massive Amount Of Points Surveys

MyPoints Honest Review

5 minutes or less surveys:

If I want to maximize my points per minute spent on MyPoints, I don’t want to waste my time taking a 30 minute survey that will give me 75 points if I complete it.

This screenshot was taken this morning on my MyPoints page.

See how there are no surveys for over 75 points that will take 5 minutes or less? Because of this, I probably would skip taking a survey today unless I’m watching TV in the evening and REALLY have nothing better to do.

My goal is to earn the most points from Mypoints in the least amount of time. Most days I honestly only spend 5 minutes or less on Mypoints, and I’m still able to get massive amounts of points. So if you don’t feel like taking a 20 minute long survey to earn 100 points, don’t! If you’re bored and have nothing better to do, go for it!

Sometimes, there will be surveys that take 5-10 minutes and can earn you 100+ points. When those show up in your surveys, TAKE THEM! You never want to pass up an opportunity for a large amount of points in a short amount of time.

Massive amount of points surveys:

As mentioned above, the surveys that take a small amount of time for a larger amount of points I advise ALWAYS taking them. In addition, you’ll receive surveys sometimes that take 20-30 minutes but could give you 500+ points. Take those if you have the time. Those points are highly worth your time since normally a 20 minute survey only earns you 75-100 points.

TIP: Sometimes you won’t qualify for a survey after you’re about 10 questions in. However, they will still reward you with 5 bonus points for up to 5 surveys that you didn’t qualify for. So say you burn through 5 surveys in 5 minutes because you didn’t qualify for any of them, you’ll still have earned 25 points just for trying. Once again, if you have nothing better to do, sometimes this can be worth the extra points for the day.

4. Sign Up For ANY Free Trials On The “Discover Deals” Section And Cancel Your Trial Before You Are Charged The Following Month

This is my biggest trick to earning a massive amount of points on MyPoints for the least amount of time. I took the time to go through Discover Deals and signed up for every “Free Trial” program that gave me points without charging me.

Now you have to be careful here because you DO have to put in your payment information, but it won’t charge you until the 2nd month if you’ve signed up for a 1 month trial.

So when I sign up for the free trials that give me anywhere from 200-2000 points, I ALWAYS put a reminder in my phone to cancel the trial before the 1 month is up. I wouldn’t cancel the next day because then you may not receive your points, but make absolute sure you cancel before you get charged for the second month.

By doing this, I’ve been able to earn thousands of points without paying a penny just for doing free trials.

I’ll save you some time and list below the Free Trials that have earned me points: (Deals change monthly so what has been available in the past may not be anymore)

-ABC mouse (1,000 points)

-Daily Burn (250 points)

-Uber (1,000 points)

-Hooked On Phonics (1,000 points)

-Default Goal (500 points)

5. If You’re In Need Of A Great Razor, Participate In The First Month of Dollar Shave Club – Here’s Why:

MyPoints Honest Review

I do not sign up for deals I have to pay for on MyPoints in order to earn points. It defeats the purpose and I would never buy something I don’t need JUST to get points.

However, I’ve had one exception to this so far.

Dollar Shave Club is running a deal where you can get 2,000 points for signing up for the first month of Dollar Shave Club. It costs $5 for the first month, and you receive Dollar Shave Club’s best razor, 4 cartridges, and 3 trial size grooming products.

Because razors at the grocery store (or even Grocery Outlet where I get mine) are usually $15+ for a razor and 4 cartridges,  I figured this was a win-win situation. Not only am I getting an incredible deal on a razor, cartridges, AND grooming products, but I’m also getting 2,000 points through MyPoints which is equal to about $10.

So, I’d actually be losing money by not trying out this promotion.

Here’s a photo of the actual products I received just 5 days after ordering:

Dollar Shave Club Through MyPoints

Guys, can I get personal here for a minute with you. This razor is PHENOMINAL. I’m not just saying this because I got a great deal and want to justify my purchase. Seriously, the best shave I’ve ever had.

So, moral of the story here:

Get this deal while it’s still happening, get PAID more in points then your spending for the razor and products, and enjoy an incredible deal through Dollar Shave Club.

And of course, cancel before your one month is up if you don’t want to continue paying for Dollar Shave Club.

But if you love it so much that you wouldn’t mind paying for Dollar Shave Club, you’ll get 3,500 more points.

So there’s my one justified purchase through MyPoints. I don’t feel guilty about it one bit.

6. Don’t Waste Your Time Watching Videos Or Playing Games On MyPoints

Personally, I think there are a lot of ways to waste time on MyPoints. For example, watching videos on MyPoints is a huge time waster if your goal is to get as many points as possible in the shortest amount of time. You have to watch 20+ videos for 5 points

Come again?

I don’t think so.

Same goes for playing games, the amount of time spent playing will not accumulate to much of anything, points-wise.

If you want to play the games just for fun and don’t really care about points, have at it. But if you’re in this to get points so you can redeem them for awesome gift cards, don’t waist your time.

Instead, stick to the ways I showed you above to earn the most points as quickly as possible.

What Happens When I Earn Enough Points To Redeem?

You can redeem gift cards with as few as 500 points. But the more points you have, the higher amount of money towards a gift card you’ll receive. I personally like to save up a larger amount of points to get $25+ on my gift cards, but it’s completely up to you.

There are 91 gift cards available, including Amazon, Groupon, Paypal, MasterCard, American Airlines, AMC, Regal Cinema, tons of restaurants and retail stores such as Athleta, Old Navy, and much more.

Here’s a screenshot of my own personal points.

MyPoints Honest Review

So if I wanted to spend my points, I’d click on “Redeem Points” and I could choose which gift card I want and the amount I want on it.

Thanks for the info about the trial part. I’ve been on mypoints for many years and just love how fast i rack up points. But all these years was to nervous to do a trial. Your tip on it helped eased my mind into doing that.
